Project Description

Higley’s relationship with The A.M. McGregor Home began in 1959 and continues to this day. The following three projects in essence represented a 100% replacement of the previous facility. In October 2009 and we completed a $4 Million phase II fit-out of the main building July 2009. In October 2005, we completed a $10 Million complete renovation of the existing 85,000 square foot home originally constructed in 1940 from a skilled nursing facility to 52 independent living units. In February 2004, we completed a new 209,866 SF 5-story replacement to the existing home, which adds 98 all-private skilled nursing rooms and 48 dementia beds, a 17,000 square foot community center, a library, greenhouse, ice-cream parlor and a 400-seat auditorium.

Project Achievements

  • Performed value engineering and constructability assessments during the design phase that trimmed $3.5 Million from the initial budget.
  • Maintained existing operations at the Skilled Nursing Facility during construction of the new addition without disruption.
  • Recycled old-growth trees from the site re-using the wood for the chapel ceiling and as finished millwork in other locations.
  • 2004 Build-Ohio Honorable Mention Award from the American General Contractors of Ohio, and 2004 Craftsmanship Award from the Builder’s Exchange of Ohio.
