As we arrive at the final chapter of our decade’s series, we turn our focus to the 2020s—a period defined by rapid change, resilience, and renewed purpose. Over the past five years, our company has changed in many ways, both big and small, while also staying true to our values and history. We have embraced new ways to build smarter, safer, and more collaboratively. This decade may be only halfway through, but it has made a monumental impact.
The 2020’s begin with Higley’s first ever project in the state of New Jersey, with The Lawrenceville School’s Tsai Dining and Athletic Center. The $140 Million, 250,000 SF project was a transformative one that reimagined student life at The Lawrenceville School’s campus combining recreation, wellness, and dining into one cohesive environment. This project began Higley’s start within New Jersey, with our office opening in 2022, now having completed multiple projects since then including the Dining and Athletic Center in 2024 and the Township of Boonton’s Municipal Building.

Throughout the decade so far, multi-family construction has emerged as a key market for Higley. These projects have played a defining role in the first half of the 2020s, with work completed across nearly all our regions. From The Artisan in University Circle to the Lafayette West Condominiums and Apartments in Detroit (both completed in 2023) to the Wellington Building in Pittsburgh, completed earlier this year, our multi-family portfolio reflects Higley’s growing presence and impact in this market.

2025 stood out as a defining year for Higley. Throughout the year, we celebrated 100 years of building community, while honoring the history that shapes who we are today. This year began with our rebrand, from The Albert M. Higley Company to AMHigley and now Higley Construction - introducing a refreshed bold new name, visual identity, and website to mark our centennial. We closed out the year by announcing another milestone: the transition to a 100% employee-owned company, becoming an ESOP in October.

We have a bright future for the rest of the decade, with multiple major projects that will be completed by the end of the decade. The Cleveland Clinic Foundation’s Fairview Hospital, Akron Zoological Park’s Pride of Africa Exhibit, Erie Insurance’s campus, the Shaw Walker Historic Redevelopment, and the Lawrence Middle School Auditorium Renovation.

As we close out our decade’s series with the 2020s, we do so with a deep sense of pride and optimism. The last five years have reaffirmed the strength of our people, our partnerships, and our commitment to quality. What we’ve accomplished during this pivotal period is not just a reflection of how we responded to change, but how we chose to grow through it. While this chapter brings our first 100 years to an end, it also marks the beginning of what’s next. Building on the momentum of today, we continue shaping the future, one project at a time, for the next one hundred years.
