Higley served as Construction Manager at Risk for The Kitchen by Cooking with Que, Detroit’s only demonstration kitchen and culinary shared space. The Kitchen is a collaborative kitchen and learning environment, with two state of the art kitchens, one for live demos and lunch, and the other as a shared-use rental kitchen. This new vegan kitchen is located in the heart of Detroit’s New Center. Higley was responsible for the complete buildout, including high-end flooring and wall finishes, custom millwork and paneling, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and installation of all food service equipment and exhaust hoods in the demonstration and catering areas.
Chef Quiana Broden grew up in Detroit and attended Detroit Public Schools, but was never exposed to culinary arts, and her vision was to create a space where all people can learn the value of cooking fresh food. Chef Que partnered with AMHigley to brings this dream to reality and is a excellent example of Mission Driven Construction.
