DETROIT, MICHIGAN
Higley served as Construction Manager at Risk for the $5 Million, 38,000 SF Renovation of the 2nd and 3rd floors within the first National Building in Downtown Detroit. The Academy offers students a certificate of completion and exposure to opportunities in the tech industry that could include jobs with Apple, internships, building startups and furthering education. This space (in collaboration with Michigan State University) is the first in the United States. Students are all local to the Detroit area and are placed in a program with the opportunity to work with the one of the family of companies under Quicken Loans.
The scope of work encompassed the installation of 17,000 SF of Access Flooring over the existing floor. This involved removing the previous flooring (Carpet and Tile) and replacing it with TeckCrete 1250 Access flooring throughout. Additions included a new gender-neutral bathroom and Mother’s room, with open and closed collaboration areas partitioned throughout, along with dedicated learning workstations.
