Project Description

Higley served as Construction Manager at Risk for the new $96 Million “Building for Your Future” addition on the existing main campus of Southwest General Health Center. The new addition included a new 40,000 SF emergency department with behavioral health unit, 40,000 SF ICU and three new floors of private patient rooms with 96 beds. Subsequent projects also included a new MRI suite and endoscopy renovation. The project, which focused on patient safety and experience also included a two-story, 250-car underground parking garage that serves as the podium for five stories of new construction. The first phase completed in November 2014.

The second phase of this project which included a 16,000 SF renovation to the existing CCU unit completed in February 2015. Subsequently, Higley completed a $6 Million Legacy Tower renovation. This 50,000 SF project included the renovation of three patient room floors, completing in April 2016.

 

Project Achievements

  • Project attached to existing hospital and required exceptional coordination to avoid disruption to 24/7 hospital operations.
  • Early bid packages on Phase I issued due to fast-track construction include site, concrete, steel, and core and shell.
  • Repositioned a helipad and the entry way for the ambulances without disrupting operations of either emergency service.
  • Engaged full preconstruction services from concept / programming through final GMP documents.
