GAMBIER, OHIO
Higley served as Construction Manager at Risk for the three-level center for fitness, recreation, and athletics. The Center opened in January 2006 and features:
An entry level, comprised of: a lobby dining area, a study lounge, and conference rooms | a 1,500-seat Tomisch Arena for basketball and volleyball | a 10,000-SF recreational gymnasium for intramural sports | a 200-meter indoor track with six (6) lanes and eight (8) sprint lanes | four (4) indoor tennis courts with a small spectator balcony | an Olympic-sized swimming pool, within the same vicinity as an outdoor patio, whirlpool, manager’s office, and wet classroom | a locker-room suite, showcasing facilities for recreational visitors, varsity-teams, visiting-teams, officials, coaches, trainers, and administrators; two (2) dry saunas; two (2) steam saunas; and two (2) family changing rooms.
A mezzanine level, encompassing: a 350-seat spectator area for the pool complex | a 12,500 SF weight and fitness room | two (2) multipurpose rooms with sprung floors, individual sound systems, and temperature controls | four (4) classroom/seminar rooms | a 120-seat auditorium/movie theater | a broadcast video lab | and athletic department offices.
Other highlights, including: eight (8) basement-level squash courts | four (4) racquetball courts | wireless computer network capability | ample storage space | a sophisticated underground HVAC system | and a renovated outdoor track and football field.
